Read article: Did the Titanic Follow ISO 31000 Risk Guidelines – David Patrishkoff

Why This Matters: This is a tongue in cheek piece about project management and leadership following or not following a strict guideline or standard such as ISO 31000.

As you know, the Titanic was an unsinkable passenger ship. Unfortuately, the MS Titanic was a british passenger ship that sank in the North Atlantic ocean in 1912 after striking an icebeg during its maiden voyage from Southampton to New York. About 2,224 passengers and crew were aboard and more than 1500 perished making it the deadliest peacetime sinking.

The essence of the article is that any standard, guideline, or prescription such as ISO 31000 needs to be tailored to the political, economic, organizational, and team context.
