Why This Matters: A heat map or risk map is a graphical representation of risk shown on a matrix. One axis is likelihood or probability. The other axis is consequence, severity, or impact. Heat maps use green, yellow, and red colors to evalaute risk.
Heat maps are easy to construct, easy to understand, and visually attractive.
But, heat maps also have significant challenges. One challenge is the ability to calculate the likelihood or probability of uncertainty.
